D&A® Eprop and DPMS: a total concept
In the
optimal situation, the drive is not only used for propulsion. The bow propeller
and any other 'consuming items’ are connected, so additional power does not
have to be installed.
Innovative
The new approach to diesel-electric propulsion, (the Eprop concept), still involves the same vessel. There is a propeller in the stern and there is still the same rudder. The biggest difference is in the structure of the drive. There are no longer any "loose links' but a complete chain.
A frequently heard comment is that a variable speed diesel-electric drive will be more expensive than a conventional power train. The reality is that total operating costs are lower!
