D&A^® Eprop

The Eprop is a frequency-controlled, diesel-electric power train, which in terms of composition and performance, is tailored to the operating profile of the vessel and the wishes of the user. This customised power train consists of an Eprop operating system, a frequency converter, an electric motor, gearbox and a modified screw.

With the Eprop, the effective thrust is no longer dependent on a static propeller/ diesel engine combination, but is optimised through a unique dynamic control system that regulates the speed of the screw on the basis of variables such as load factor, water level and navigation route.

An investment that pays

A frequently heard comment is that a variable speed diesel-electric drive will be more expensive than a conventional power train. The reality is that total operating costs are lower!
